When does Shetland season 9 start?

Yesterday (Wednesday, October 23) BBC One revealed the start date of the new series of Shetland.

The BBC has confirmed that the hit detective drama will be returning on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 - so just a couple of weeks away!

What is the plot of Shetland about series 9?

This series will see Calder and Tosh drawn into a complicated investigation that will blur the lines between professional and personal. When Tosh's friend and her son go missing, Ruth - trying to recover from a life-threatening ordeal of her own - is drawn back into action.

During their investigation, they discover that the missing woman, Annie, is estranged from her husband and has been staying with a mussel farmer and his two sons. However, when they can't find a trace of her there either, alarm bells start ringing.

While searching Annie's home which she shared with estranged husband Ian, Tosh meets Professor Rossi, who claims that Annie left him a very distressed voice message before her disappearance. But is there more to Professor Rossi than meets the eye?
