Death in Paradise series 14: Who was Denis Guyenon? BBC One honours him in end-of-credits tribute
By Helen Fear | Fri Mar 28 2025Death in Paradise series 14 came to a sad ending this week and not just because of the emotional plot - there was also a tribute to the show's "friend" Denis Guyenon.
Just before the end credits of episode 8 (Friday, March 28, 2025), a tribute appeared on screen.
It read: "En la mémoire de notre ami Denis Guyenon 24/06/1965 - 06/07/2024."
Of course, this is French for "in memory of our friend".
Here's what we know about the man behind the tribute, Denis Guyenon, who worked on Death in Paradise for many years.

Who was Death in Paradise 'friend' Denis Guyenon?
French-speaking Denis Guyenon was the stills photographer on Death in Paradise. He lived on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, where the popular BBC One series is filmed.
He worked in the Camera and Electrical Department as a stills photographer for seven years, between 2017 and 2024. This covered series six through to 13, so Denis photographed three detectives, including Kris Marshall's DI Humphrey Goodman, Ardal O'Hanlon's DI Jack Mooney, and Ralf Little's DI Neville Parker.
He was involved in 60 episodes over those seven years, but did not work with the current leading man, Don Gilet.
Before Death in Paradise, Denis worked on French detective series Captain Marleau.

Death in Paradise tribute: What happened to Denis?
Denis Guyenon sadly died on July, 06, 2024. He was just 59. Poignantly, he was just months away from reaching his milestone 60th birthday.
The BBC has not yet revealed anymore details about Denis' sad death.
Talking about filming in Guadalope, actor Ardal O'Hanlon previously explained that some of the cast and crew - including Denis Guyenon - were relatively local to the fictional Saint Marie.
He said: "The people in the country are fantastic as well, they also employ a lot of Guadeloupeans, local people."
Philippe Virapin, based in Guadalope, has replaced Denis as stills photographer on Death in Paradise. He has worked on the series ever since 2024.

'Denis Guyenon was a much loved and key part of the Death in Paradise family'
Talking about Denis, Tim Key - Executive Producer, Red Planet Pictures - said: "Stills photographer Denis Guyenon was a much loved and key part of the Death in Paradise family, having worked on the programme from the very beginning. Chances are that if you saw a photograph of the show, then Denis had taken it."
He added: "A kind, warm-hearted and talented man who cared very much about the show and all of the people who worked on it, our set feels different without him on it. He will be very much missed by all of his friends on the cast and crew and our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time."
'He was integral to the DiP family'
Alex Gill, Picture Publicist, added: "For me, he became a friend and partner-in-crime over the 13 years I worked with him. He was so integral to the DiP family and the success of the show."
She went on to describe Denis as "the most diligent and kindest of people". Alex added: "Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he always wanted to make us proud and ensure we had everything we needed to publicise the show.
"The team loved him, and he made many friends over the years. His family said he was always the happiest when he was working on DIP."
