Silent Witness series 28: Guest stars in Homecoming Part 1 and 2 include favourites from Vera and Ted Lasso

The long-running forensic drama rarely fails to deliver intriguing storylines delivered by show favourites Emilia Fox and David Caves, alongside a revolving door of famous faces in the guest cast.
And the latest episodes are no exception. As the team are called out to deal with a dead estate agent, there are several well-known actors who pop up too. Here's everything you need to know about the guest cast of Silent Witness series 28 episodes 3 and 4, aka Homecoming Part 1 and 2.
Silent Witness series 28: Zoe Telford is Chief Superintendent Jane De Freitas
Actress Zoe Telford returns as Chief Superintendent Jane De Freitas in episodes 3 and 4, Homecoming Part 1 and 2.
Following Sean Pertwee's reappearance in the opening episodes, Zoe Telford reprises the role of Jane De Freitas. The intuitive character was last seen back in 2015 in series 18's two-handed Sniper's Nest. She was a DCI back then, when a shooter was at large in London.
Norfolk-born Zoe, 51, has been on our screens since 1993 when she first popped up in The Bill as Helen Shaw. Throughout the 90s, she went on to appear in episodes of Soldier Soldier, Peak Practice, and Invasion: Earth. Most notably, she portrayed Roe Germaine in the apocalyptic series The Last Train - also starring The Split's Nicola Walker.
Zoe subsequently played Maggie in the school drama Teachers, Alison Jackman in Absolute Power, Dr. Jane Cameron in The Golden Hour, Abigail Thomas in The Palace, and Nicola Curry in Place of Execution.
Other notable roles include Anna Klein in Criminal Justice, Sandra Rampton in Collision, Marianne Swift in The Thick of It, and Claire Sutton in the rebooted Yes, Prime Minister.
In 2015, she played Bella Cross in the first ever series of brilliant detective drama Unforgotten. More recently, Zoe has portrayed Dr. Kitty Gray in The Lazarus Project, the ill-fated Dr. Amber Hurst in thriller Red Eye, and Helen McGuire in Showtrial.
Ellora Torchia stars as Claire Steadman
London-born Ellora Torchia, 32, portrays terrified sister Claire Steadman in the cast of Silent Witness series 28.
Actress Ellora made her television debut in a 2010 episode of the BBC spy drama Spooks. She played Aala Hall and, at that time, was credited as Rashmika Torchia. Rashmika is her real first name, although she's now better known by her middle name Ellora.
She went on to portray Nafeesah Kamel in DCI Banks, Sita in Indian Summers, and Vishka in Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands.
The Split fans will know her best for playing Maggie in series 1 and 2 of the legal drama, before she went on to portray Reva in Infiniti.
More recently, Ellora has played Maya in Grantchester, Sienna Rose in The Gold, Kat in House of the Dragon, and Devi Langridge in Dalgliesh.
Sarah Kameela Impey plays Claire's sister Tina Steadman
Ipswich-born actress Sarah Kameela Impey guest stars as Claire's sister Tina Steadman in Silent Witness series 28, episodes 3 and 4, entitled Homecoming.
Of course Vera fans will know her as pathologist Dr Paula Bennett, a keen and talented scientist, who joined the ITV detective drama in 2023.
Aside from Vera, the actress and musician is probably best known for her role as front woman Saira in Muslim punk band sitcom We Are Lady Parts. The critically-acclaimed series kicked off in 2021, and ran a second series in 2024.
In 2023, she appeared in an episode of medical drama Maternal, opposite DI Ray actress Parminder Nagra. She's also starred in an episode of radio soap The Archers, and played Postmates in Dinner with the Parents.
Sarah has also worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company multiple times, notably in the 2017 version of The Tempest. As a singer, she performed as part of soul indie band A Blossom Fell for six years.
Silent Witness series 28 episode 3 and 4 guest stars: Billy Harris plays DC Nick Whelan
Essex-born Billy Harris, 30, joins the cast as Supt Jane De Freitas' sidekick DC Nick Whelan.
Billy is most famous for playing Colin Hughes in the Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso. He's played the role of the Lamborghini-loving Welsh left winger since the first series in 2020. His most significant storyline has been his secret boyfriend, and coming out as a gay man.
The actor has also had small roles in Raiders of the Lost Art, and Something's Wrong. In 2024, he portrayed Scott Patterson in one episode of The Outlaws.
Ellie Haddington portrays Meg McGrath
Sixty-nine-year-old Ellie Haddington joins the cast of Silent Witness as Meg McGrath. But Motherland fans will most definitely recognise her as Julia's cantankerous mum Marion, who moved in with her daughter in series 3. She quietly died in her armchair while wearing a VR headset and climbing Kilimanjaro (digitally at least).
The veteran actress has been on our screens for four decades and famously played Josie Clarke in Coronation Street from 1995 to 1996.
Ellie went on to portray Kathleen in Life Begins in 2004, and Governor Joy Masterton in Bad Girls. Between 2011 to 2013, she played Carol Porter in The Cafe – opposite Death in Paradise star Ralf Little!
She starred as Hilda Pierce in Foyle's War, Fanny Biggetywitch in Dickensian, Agatha Chudleigh in Ripper Street, and Wendy in Close to Me. More recently, she's portrayed Barbara Mitchell in Death in Paradise, Avril Lennox in Crime, Sheila Gemmell in Guilt, and Diane in The Following Events Are Based on a Pack of Lies.
She's appeared in a multitude of films, including Enola Holmes, Operation Mincemeat, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Lorcan Cranitch is Colin McGrath
Dublin-born actor Lorcan Cranitch portrays Colin McGrath in the cast of Silent Witness series 28. But recently he's been on the side of the law himself, having played DCS Jackie Twomey in Bloodlands, Detective Superintendent Howlett in Bad Sisters, Commissioner Stevens in The Crown.
Lorcan is probably best known for playing Sean Dillon in the BBC series Ballykissangel, or DS Jimmy Beck opposite Robbie Coltrane's Cracker.
In 2001, he played the leading role of Michael McCready in detective drama McCready and Daughter, before going on to play DCI Frank Keane in The Bill.
Lorcan, now 65, played Erastes Fulmen in the globally acclaimed series Rome, and went on to play Jonty Roberts in The Palace, Simon Manning in Paradox, and DI Littlejohn in Fortutude.
Other notable roles include Cilix in Atlantis, Adam in Rig 45, and Sir Magnus Pye in Moonflower Murders prequel Magpie Murders.

Zaqi Ismail, who guest stars as Harry Singh, is also known for playing Philo in Britannia, and Ahsan in We Are Lady Parts.
Meanwhile, Kurt Egyiawan stars as Oliver Brown. The actor played Father Bennett in The Exorcist TV series, Grand Maester Orwyle in House of the Dragon, Adrian in Kaos, and Osman in The Agency.
Lastly, Abigail Cruttenden stars as Mary Chalmers. She's probably best known for playing Toby's wife Anna in Not Going Out, a role she portrayed from 2014 to 2023. Abigail has also portrayed Dr. Nesbitt in Showtrial series 2, Kate Weedon in Benidorm, and Jane Sharpe in Sharpe.
