Death in Paradise will be back for a series 15, lead actor Don Gilet has confirmed - but which cast will be returning to Saint Marie?

Don, who plays Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in the popular crime drama, recently revealed that he would be heading back to Guadeloupe to begin filming the upcoming season 15.

Even though viewers are currently watching series 14 on BBC One, filming actually finished in 2024. And now the cast and crew are set to return again to start filming new episodes.

Here's everything we know so far about Death in Paradise series 15, which will follow on from the current series 14.

Is Death in Paradise coming back in 2026?

Although the BBC has not officially confirmed more episodes of Death in Paradise after the current series 14 has ending, cast member Don Gilet has.

He and co-star Shantol Jackson - who has played DS Naomi Thomas since 2022 - appeared on Lorraine this week (Tuesday, February 11, 2025).

During the joint interview, Don revealed series 15 is happening, and that filming starts soon.

When presenter Lorraine Kelly asked them when they would be returning to Guadeloupe to film season 15, Don Gilet hinted that the start date isn't too far away.

He said: "Unfortunately, it is about April time, end of April." Hang on, though. Why Unfortunately?! A question Shantol Jackson asked for us!

In response, Don Gilet revealed that he "just meant for the people I am going to leave".

When does Death in Paradise series 15 start?

Historically, BBC One always delivers a cheeky little Death in Paradise Christmas Special, which airs on Christmas Day or around that time. So we're fully expecting to get a festive episode in December 2025.

If series 15 follows the show's usual pattern, then it's likely to air in January 2026.

The current series 14 started at the end of January 2025, and continues every Friday ay 9pm.

Which cast will be return?

Well, we know Don Gilet will be back as DI Mervin Wilson in the cast of Death in Paradise series 15.

And we expect the Saint Marie team to also return, minus Danny John-Jules' Officer Dwayne Myers, who left in the 2025 Christmas Special.

So that includes Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey, and newcomer Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Officer Sebastian Rose.

However, a central storyline in Death in Paradise series 14 has been the threat of Don Warrington's Selwyn Patterson losing his job.

Is Don Warrington's character Commissioner Selwyn Patterson leaving Saint Marie?

Don Warrington's Commissioner Selwyn Patterson is one of Death in Paradise's most beloved characters. He's been in the BBC One detective show ever since it started in 2011.

He's seen many staff come and go, not least the main detectives - Ben Miller's DI Richard Poole, Kris Marshall's DI Humphrey Goodman, Ardal O'Hanlon's DI Jack Mooney, and Ralf Little's DI Neville Parker.

So it would be a heartbreaking loss to viewers if he left. In series 14, the Commissioner was told they were "phasing his job out".

At the moment, the Beeb are keeping tight-lipped about whether the character is really leaving. And Don, 73, has not commented on the storyline.

But we're pretty sure he's not going anywhere... Watch this space for more information when we get it.

Death in Paradise series 14 currently airs on Fridays at 9pm on BBC One throughout February 2025.
