For the birds and animals of the Highlands, the summer offers a chance to raise offspring before the days shorten and the storms of autumn arrive. Seabirds flock to the island of Handa off the Sutherland Coast, where 30,000 pairs of guillemots breed annually. Handa is also the location for a spectacular wild drama ending with the tiny chicks, known as jumplings, leaping for their lives from the 400-ft cliffs.
