Fifty-two-year-old retired firefighter John is airlifted to A&E after being accidentally hit in the face with a golf club, which hit him so hard that it snapped. With a suspected critical head injury, he is sent for a CT scan, and doctors are concerned that his right eye is not reacting as it should and he is weak down the right-hand side of his body. Meanwhile, 77-year-old Joan arrives in St George's after falling down the stairs at home and hurting her leg. As she waits to be treated, she talks about growing up in Camberwell
