In east Kent, dinner party veterans Mike and Helenor kick off the competition with a sophisticated menu including wild garlic from the local churchyard and a risky bonus ingredient of sweetbread. Loved-up couple Rob and Jade are impressed with the posh nosh, but married childhood sweethearts Caroline and Tony can't get Mike's resemblance to a famous comedian out of their minds. Rob and Jade put together a Thai-inspired menu, but Mike and Helenor are suspicious of Rob's story of why he loves Thai food. On the last night, visually impaired Caroline and her easy-going husband Tony hope their made-from-scratch food will secure the £1,000 prize
