The Madame Blanc Mysteries series 5: A wedding and a 'perfect blend of suspense and sunshine' as cosy crime returns
Sally Lindsay and Steve Edge will be back, and they plan to finally tie the knot!
The Madame Blanc Mysteries is returning for a series 5 on Channel 5, with the cast and crew “returning to the sparkling sunshine of St Victoire for more antiques and mysteries”. Oh, and a wedding!
Sally Lindsay will once again lead the cast as ex-pat antiques dealer Jean White in the mystery drama. She lives in the fictional French village of Sainte Victoire (although fans will know it’s actually filmed in Malta).
Every week, she’s joined by a great returning cast, as well as shiny new weekly guests. And we can expect more of the same in series 5 of The Madame Blanc Mysteries. Here’s everything you need to know, including plot, cast, and start date.

Will there be a season 5 of The Madame Blanc Mysteries?
Both Channel 5 and Acorn TV broadcast the cosy crime drama The Madame Blanc Mysteries. And they have now confirmed that the series will be returning for a season 5.
We’re told that series 5 will follow Jean and Dom as they plan their wedding, but “nothing can prepare them for the unseen obstacles that crop up along the way”.
A synopsis tells us: “Over the course of the series, a dead body pops up in one of the shows iconic locations, and the dead bodies continue to stack up when someone is found foaming at the mouth in St Victoire Theatre. Uncle Patrick hosts the pub quiz of the century at La Couronne, while Judith and Jeremy face a heart‑wrenching dilemma.
“We witness the full, fabulous wrath of John Marsden, and hold our breath to see whether Jean and Dom will finally make it down the aisle.”
Like crime dramas Unforgotten, Shetland, The Bay, and The Good Ship Murder, The Madame Blanc Mysteries has the potential to run for years. Each week, there’s a different case, and a new guest cast. Never mind the high fatality rate in Sainte Victoire, it’s never stopped Death in Paradise, or Midsomer Murders from being recommissioned!

‘I’ll write it as long as they want it’
Sally Lindsay has good news for fans of The Madame Blanc Mysteries. She’s revealed she will continue to play the role of Jean White, so long as viewers still want her on screen.
Talking to press ahead of series 4, co-creator Sally said: “I’ll write it as long as they want it. I won’t quit when I’m on a high.”
She continued: “I love it so much. I will do it until they want me to not do it, to be honest, because it’s such a special thing in my life. And it’s such a part of our lives now. It’s great for us because Steve [my husband] does the music as well, so it’s something we share. And the boys [twin sons Victor and Louie] come out on our holidays there, and it’s just brilliant.”
Sally concluded by saying: “It’s just really special, so I’ll drag it out as long as they want me to. So hopefully it will carry on.”

How many seasons are there?
There are currently four seasons of The Madame Blanc Mysteries. Series 4 is currently available to watch on Channel 5 catch up. Seasons 1 – 3 are also available on Channel 5 and Acorn TV.
The popular cosy crime series started in 2021. Fans will know that antiques expert Jean White moved to France suspicious of how her husband died. She used her skills to become a private investigator, helping the local police and simultaneously bonding with the town’s popular taxi driver Dom.
Series 2 of the show, which was created by its stars Sally Lindsay and Sue Vincent, followed in 2023. The third series launched with a fun Christmas special in December 2023.
Series 4 also began with a Christmas special in late 2024, with new episodes following in 2025.
Does Sally Lindsay write the show?
Former Corrie actress Sally Lindsay co-created and co-writes the series with fellow co-star Sue Vincent, who plays Gloria. She recently revealed that they sometimes start writing new seasons before the show has actually been renewed.
She explained: “I know it doesn’t seem complex, but it’s a very complex show to write because you’ve got your A and B storylines, you want all your characters involved.
“You’ve also got to have specific research on killing people, so that takes ages to get right, and also to get it signed off because some things can be quite gruesome – so it’s quite complicated. Even though you’ve got an idea, you might not be able to put it on TV.”
She added: “So we probably give ourselves a week off, and then we start plotting it again. We just write it and see, just get on with it and hope it happens, in a sort of egoless way, and mostly it does.”

Who’s in the cast?
All the regulars are returning to the cast in The Madame Blanc Mysteries series 5. Sally Lindsay commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled that The Madame Blanc Mysteries is returning for a fifth series. The love and loyalty from our audience has been incredible, and we’re so grateful to everyone who keeps coming back to St Victoire with us. I’m endlessly proud of this amazing cast who bring so much joy, warmth and mischief to the show and series five is packed with sunshine, escapism and gloriously twisty mysteries. It’s lovely to be back, and we can’t wait to share another sun‑drenched adventure.”
The returning main cast includes:
- Sally Lindsay returns as Jean White.
- Steve Edge is back as Dom Hayes.
- Co-writer Sue Vincent stars as glorious Gloria Beaushaw.
- Robin Askwith and Sue Holderness return as the delectable Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James.
- Alex Gaumond stars as Chief of Police André Caron.
- Tony Robinson portrays Dom’s Uncle Patrick.
- Paul Chuckle (Elliott) plays Gloria’s dad Trevor.
- Stephen Bailey is “back to cause trouble” as gangster John Marsden.
How many episodes is The Madame Blanc Mysteries series 5?
The Madame Blanc Mysteries series 5 will be seven episodes of an hour long. This will likely include a Christmas special.
The cast and crew of The Madame Blanc Mysteries gave fans a feature-length Christmas special in 2025. After its fourth season finished, C5 confirmed that the cosy crime drama would be back in December. It was the show’s fourth festive outing, with one having aired every year since 2022.
At the time, a post on the show’s official Instagram page announced the news, saying: “Some extra special news this morning, as we can reveal that this Christmas we’ll be heading to Sainte Victoire for the first ever feature-length episode of The Madame Blanc Mysteries. Jean White (@sallylindsay73) is back to what she does best – and let’s just say, she’s as excited as we are.”
A statement from Lindsay said: “This year’s Christmas special has been a true labour of love from our lot. Sue and I wanted all the brilliant elements of what makes a Christmas film but it to remain very Madame Blanc. We are all thrilled with the results. Merry Christmas!”

When’s the start date?
The series is currently in production in Gozo and Malta and is expected to air later in 2026 on Channel 5.
Greg Barnett, Commissioning Editor at Channel 5 said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing the series back once again. Sally Lindsay and the team continue to deliver the perfect blend of suspense, sunshine and sentiment. Wedding bells are on the horizon, but will it be murder getting Jean and Dom down the aisle…?”
Andy Morgan, Executive Producer at Clapperboard, shared: “The Madame Blanc Mysteries is the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks to Sally and all of our brilliant team, series five promises to bring more excitement and even more guest stars than ever. Our hats are at the ready, as Jean and Dom plan their much-anticipated wedding, but we’ll have to wait and see if they make it down the aisle, as things are never straightforward in St Victoire.”
