Ten Pound Poms series 2 will introduce a new family to the cast, alongside firm favourites Kate and Terry, played by Michelle Keegan and Warren Brown.

The BBC has released first-look pictures of the upcoming series, and they give us a few important clues about the plot. Not least whether Sheila Anderson survived her suicide attempt, if Kate abducted her son, and how Pattie is coping with being a new mum.

Ten Pound Poms series 1, which landed on BBC One in May 2023, followed a group of Brits escaping post-war Britain to embark on a life-changing adventure on the other side of the world.

And series 2 will follow on where we left off... Here's everything we know about Ten Pound Poms series 2, including plot, new family, start date, and location.

Is there a series 2 of Ten Pound Poms?

Ten Pound Poms series 1 came to a rather dramatic conclusion in June 2023, leaving many fans hoping for a series 2.

The BBC One drama ended on a whopping cliffhanger when Michelle Keegan's character Kate appeared to drive off into the sunset with her son - abducting him from his adopted parents.

There were plenty of loose ends for a second run of Ten Pound Poms, so we weren't surprised when BBC One announced that a second series of the hit drama had been commissioned.

Writer, creator and executive producer Danny Brocklehurst said at the time: "The positive viewer response to Ten Pound Poms was a true delight. We tapped into a little-known part of our recent history, and told stories which reflected the realities of the real Poms that made the trip."

Meanwhile, Director of BBC Drama Lindsay Salt said: "We're delighted to take BBC viewers back to Australia for more sunshine with Ten Pound Poms series two. With Michelle Keegan, Faye Marsay and Warren Brown returning to lead the cast, and some fantastic new characters and stories from the brilliant Danny Brocklehurst, there's so much more for our 'Poms' to discover Down Under."

What's the start date of Ten Pound Poms series 2?

Ten Pound Poms series 2 will return to BBC iPlayer and BBC One in 2025 in a co-production with Stan, which airs the series in Australia.

Series 1 landed in May 2023, so it's reasonable to expect series 2 might arrive at around the same time.

What is the plot of second series?

The BBC synopsis reads: "After a challenging first year in Australia, Ten Pound Poms series 2 follows nurse Kate Thorne and the Roberts family into 1957 on their adventure down under, each determined against all odds to achieve their slice of the Australian dream.

"As Kate, Annie and Terry settle into their new lives, they each struggle to reconcile their hopes for the life they were promised with the harsh realities they face at Galgownie."

We also know that a new family will join the series. The Skinner family arrive in Australia from Ireland ready to enjoy their new lives in the sunshine. But, like those who arrived before, they soon realise the camp isn't quite like the glossy brochures.

Meanwhile, unscrupulous landlord Benny Bates makes Terry an offer he can't refuse as he attempts to put down roots for his family. Anyone getting a 'red flag' vibe?

Who is in the cast of series 2?

The newly-released pictures show series leads Michelle Keegan, Faye Marsay, and Warren Brown reprising their roles as Kate, Annie and Terry respectively.

The Skinner family comprises of Sam Delich as Ray, Maya Stange as Maggie, Tommy James Green as Padraig, and Clare Hughes as Birdie.

Also returning for series two are Australian actors Rob Collins as Ron, Leon Ford as Bill, Declan Coyle as Stevie, and Stephen Curry as JJ.

Hattie Hook will reprise her role as new mum Pattie, opposite Finn Treacy's Peter, and Cheree Cassidy as Marlene. Emma Hamilton returns as Sheila, so her desperate suicide attempt wasn't successful at the end of series 1.
