Grantchester series 9: Guest cast includes an actor who has played a very famous royal
By Helen Fear | Tue Jan 28 2025Grantchester series 9 continues this week with episode 4, and we see Alphy having to grit his teeth at a posh country manor party - where there are some familiar faces present (in the guest cast!).
This week's instalment of the detective drama sees the latest Rev invited to a party at a country manor, where he hopes to raise funds for the ailing church.
However, the evening's frivolities are cut short when a body is found in the basement! Yep, dead bodies can be a bit of a mood killer...
So who guest stars in Grantchester series 9 episode 4 opposite Robson Green and Rishi Nair? Here's everything you need to know.
Grantchester series 9 guest stars: Marianne Oldham plays Lady Marwood
Actress Marianne Oldham, 43, joins the cast of Grantchester series 9 in episode 4. She plays the rather flirty Lady Marwood, who doesn't let Rev's white collar hold her back...
Marianne is no stranger to period dramas. She's probably best known for playing Rosalie Berwick in the 2014 miniseries The Crimson Field. She portrayed a nurse in the WWI hospital drama.
The TV and theatre actress - who is pretty unforgettable with her intense piercing blue eyes - is also known for playing Deborah Burns in WPC 56. The 2013 TV series followed the daily challenges facing the first Woman Police Constable to join a West Midlands force in the 1950s, where sexism, chauvinism and petty grudges were rife.
In 2015, Marianne played Patricia Scott in two episodes of Foyles' War, before going on to portray Catherine in The Musketeers, and Mary Denning in The Living and the Dead.
Other notable roles include Stella Levy in A Very English Scandal, Ruth Cooper in Holby City, and Magdalena Byrne in Endeavour. She was last seen in 2022's The Midwich Cuckoos, playing Jane Colter.
Marianne is also well known for theatre goers, and has been in multiple films including Finding Your Feet, Absolutely Anything, and 500 Miles North.
Richard Goulding portrays Lord Marwood
Actor Richard Goulding, 44, joins the guest cast of Grantchester series 9 as Lord Marwood.
He is probably best known for playing Prince Harry in multiple shows. He first portrayed King Charles' son in the 2014 stage play King Charles III, and then its 2017 film adaptation of the same name.
In 2016, he played the Prince once again in the comedy series The Windsors, opposite Harry Enfield who portrayed his dad.
Early roles included Maurice Hutchinson in M.I. High between 2009 and 2010, Jack Stanford in Foyle's War, and Adam Dukes in Doctors.
In 2014, Richard starred as Edgar Morton in Ripper Street, before going on to play Tomothy Pembersley in the comedy Fresh Meat in 2016.
Other notable roles include Jerry Roxborough in Traitors, David Boutflour in White House Farm, and Oliver Trenchard in Belgravia and its subsequent sequel Belgravia: The Next Chapter.
Unsurprisingly perhaps, he also popped up in The Crown - but not as Prince Harry! In fact, he played barrister Edward Adeane in five episodes in 2020. More recently, he's played Lord Martlesham in Dalgliesh, and Stewart Maclean in the Netflix film Scoop.
Other film roles include Mr Scales in Wicked Little Letters, George Sassoon in war drama Benediction, and - believe it or not - Boris Johnson in Brexit: The Uncivil War.
Cara Horgan stars as housemaid Leah
Forty-year-old Cara Horgan, 40, guest stars as housemaid Leah in the cast of Grantchester series 9 episode 4.
As well as appearing in multiple TV shows, films and plays, Cara has appeared in music videos including Years & Years' single Desire, and the Chemical Brothers' song I'll See You There.
She's been on our screens since 2004, when she first appeared as an extra in the Johnny Depp film The Libertine. Cara went on to Claire Newman in The Rotters' Club, Veronica Vass in Afterlife, Eliza Reed in Jane Eyre, and Mary Shelley in The Romantics.
In 2007, she played Joanna in the TV series Fallen Angel, alongside Silent Witness star Emilia Fox. That same year, she popped as Aurora in Peep Show, and was reunited with Emilia again when she played Anna Holland in the Silent Wtiness episodes Double Dare Part 1 and 2.
Other significant roles include Jeanie J. Johnson in West of Liberty, Rae Savitt in Traitors (which also starred her Grantchester colleague Richard Goulding), and Zelda in The Sandman.
More recently, she's portrayed Becks Starling in The Marlow Murder Club, and Mildred in Black Cake. Her film roles include Miss Scheinberg in Disobedience, Lidiya Timashuk in The Death of Stalin, Roxy in The Wedding Video, and Maria in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
