The One Show

The One Show

Topical magazine-style programme "The One Show" was first aired on BBC on 14 August 2006 as part of a four-week trial run. It was hosted by Adrian Chiles and Nadia Sawalha and showcased stories of all varieties from all over the UK. The show covers topical stories ranging from the comic to the tragic. From flippant to poignant, different causes, charities and issues are raised, as well as interviews with guest stars. Several experts and other presenters have also contributed to the reports on the show including Gethin Jones, John Sergeant, Nicky Campbell, Paul Merton, Gabby Logan and Gloria Hunniford. Specialist reports involved in the show have included Clare Balding, Colin Jackson, Dominic Littlewood, Dan Snow, Arlene Philips and Phil Tufnell. The first full series began on 9 July 2007 and was hosted by Chiles and Myleene Klass. She was replaced in August by Christine Bleakley and her partnership with Chiles lasted until April 2010. It is broadcast nearly every week except of the year and, to celebrate their 400th show on 18 March 2009, the programme lasted an hour instead of the usual thirty minutes. Chris Evans started in April 2010 and he hosts the special Friday edition of the programme. At the same time as Evans's introduction both Chiles and Bleakley left the show and were replaced by Jason Manford and Alex Jones. Manford stepped down from his presenting job after only four months and has been replaced by Matt Baker and Chris Evans. The One Show attracts an average of 5 million viewers for each edition.
