Nick Knowles travels to Warrington, Cheshire, to meet electrician Dave McCartney, a healthy man until he had a stroke at work that has left him partially paralysed. Now he is forced to sleep in a hospital bed in his kitchen - but it won't be for much longer, as his old workmates team up with the DIY SOS builders and other members of the local community to adapt his home to his needs, with designer Charlie Luxton on hand to keep the boys in check
