GPs: Behind Closed Doors
Season 3 Episode 16 of 54
Cameras return to Balham Park Surgery in south London as Dr Shah sets out to determine whether there is such a thing as '21st-century illnesses'. To answer his question, he meets Carrie, a young woman who believes she may be suffering from body dysmorphia, an anxiety disorder that causes people to develop a distorted view of how they look, and can leave those affected obsessively assessing their appearance in the mirror. Dr Shah tries to find out if this condition ever occurred throughout history, or is simply a by-product of modern celebrity-focused culture
