Carols from King's
Carols from King's
The Chapel of King's College, Cambridge is the setting for this annual celebration of the Christmas story - with this year marking the 70th anniversary of the first carol service being broadcast. Led by the Dean, the Rev Dr Stephen Cherry, the service of music, readings and prayer begins in the time-honoured way as a solo chorister sings the first verse of Once in Royal David's City. The world-famous choir sings carols old and new, including O Holy Night, Nativity Carol and Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, and leads the congregation in other popular carols, while the story of the Nativity is read by members of King's College in the words of the King James Bible and in poems by Christina Rossetti, Edwin Muir and GK Chesterton
Carols from King's airs on BBC Two Wales HD at 6:00 PM, Tuesday 24 December. (Subtitles, new.)
