After Edmund scorns the exploits of the Scarlet Pimpernel, two noblemen bet him 1,000 guineas that he can't go to France and rescue an aristocrat. Instead, he finds the Comte de Frou Frou at Mrs Miggins' pie shop and takes him to the French embassy, but ends up being arrested by a revolutionary who has assassinated the ambassador.
