A visit to Poole Quay, where visitors have the opportunity to view pristine miniature steam engines, all competing for the title of 'best in show'. The programme also looks back on the story of a whale that washed up beside Boscombe Pier in Bournemouth in 1897, and how the skeleton was erected on the pier to attract crowds in the years that followed. Finally, the programme follows the work of Poole Harbour patrol officers, who spend their days on the water, making sure boats and jet skis observe the harbour speed limit, escorting larger vessels into and out of the harbour, and ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently
