Former hotel inspector and owner David Stanbridge and manager Nikki Deans welcome the contestants to the Cley Hall Hotel in Spalding, Lincolnshire. Peter and Amanda are impressed by their room, but Simon and Lyn are unhappy with the state of the carpet. The next morning, the guests decide to put their eight-minute breakfast rule to the test, and some of them have concerns about Nikki's waitressing skills
