When Abba Came to Britain
When Abba Came to Britain
The Swedish band's relationship with the UK, looking at the time Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Benny and Bjorn spent in Britain from 1974 to 1982 and examining their groundbreaking legacy. The documentary examines how the band members' fascination with British music began in the 1960s, with the Beatles and their contemporaries, inspiring them to play - a love of music that would eventually bring them to the UK, and Eurovision in Brighton - where their victory marked the beginning of a global career, which continues to this day with the Abba Voyage virtual concert in London. Contributors include Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie and Blossoms
When Abba Came to Britain airs on BBC Four at 10:10 PM, Friday 31 January. (Subtitles.)
