One hundred years after the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty, this programme reveals the remarkable roles played by Irish Redemptorist priests in brokering the most important peace deals between Irish Republicans and British governments in the 20th century. Archbishop Patrick Clune from County Clare was a secret intermediary between British Prime Minister Lloyd George and Sinn Féin leaders including Michael Collins back in 1921. In Belfast, Fr Alec Reid initiated the Hume-Adams talks in 1986 which led to the Good Friday Agreement in 1998
