Climbing Great Buildings
Caernarfon Castle
Season 1 Episode 3 of 15
Architectural historian Jonathan Foyle heads for Caernarfon Castle in north Wales. Built in 1283, its architecture revolutionised the way fortresses were constructed in Britain, and its decorations were inspired by the city of Constantinople when it was under Roman rule. Assisted by climber Lucy Creamer, the presenter scales over 100 ft up the majestic Eagle tower before abseiling down the King's Gate to investigate the super-fortified main entrance
Climbing Great Buildings airs on BBC Four at 7:00 PM, Wednesday 26 February. (Subtitles, audio description.)
