George Clarke revisits Phil Evans and Joanne McGirr, who took a huge financial gamble by purchasing a Grade II-listed rural parish church in the Eden Valley in Cumbria. The pair planned to transform the structure into their dream home, and enlisted relative Alex, a newly qualified architect, to manage the build. However, an early disaster and ambitious plans had a dramatic impact on the tiny budget, and when George left them they were teetering on the edge of financial ruin. Have they managed to save the project from failure?
