Cameras observe the staff of North East Ambulance Service at work, highlighting the care delivered to their local population of over 2.7 million people. As crews start to book on for the 12-hour day shift, a call comes in from a man with chest pains - prompting the immediate dispatch of crewmates Sophie and Jack. it transpires the male patient's wife is seven months pregnant with twins. Colleagues and life partners Kyle and Alex are dispatched to their first patient of the day, a woman also suffering chest pain. The patient has been suffering with anxiety following the recent death of her mother. Narrated by Christopher Eccleston
