In May 1169 the Normans came to Ireland at the request of the deposed King of Leinster to help him regain his Kingship. They also claimed their occupation was sanctioned by the Pope. However, Tim and David contemplate whether the Norman invasion was really an English invasion since it was sanctioned by the English King
