Sidney has lost his faith in the church, so decides to resign so he can marry Amanda. His decision is a crushing blow to Mrs Maguire, while Leonard fears the arrival of a less tolerant vicar. Sidney soon finds the community needs him more than ever when a boy is abducted, while Geordie's behaviour grows more and more unstable as he wrestles with family problems.
