The sleuth falls asleep during a flight from Paris to London, while a female passenger is murdered by a poisoned dart, leaving few clues to the killer's identity. Poirot soon discovers she was a money-lender, which may provide a motive for the killing. The investigation is turned on its head, however, when the victim's illegitimate daughter comes forward to claim the inheritance.
