Three couples in and around Cambridge compete for the cash prize of £1,000, with Fiona and Anthony kicking off proceedings with a 'carnival-style' dinner party. Everyone loves the chicken wings starter, but the spicy fish main proves too much for electrician Paul, and his wife Karen thinks that international couple Ari and Amanda seem a bit posh. On day two, a squeamish Karen nearly throws up as Paul prepares chicken liver pâté, while Ari and Amanda get the wrong end of the stick when they turn up in Christmas jumpers. Finally, Ari and Amanda plan to impress with an evening of fine dining, and their guests are instantly impressed by the size of their house
