Documentary telling the story of Joseph Plunkett, who was born in Dublin in 1887. In a life blighted by poor health, he travelled through Europe and Africa in search of a cure for his illnesses, but also published several volumes of poetry, including The Blood Upon the Rose. In 1913 he became involved with the Irish Volunteers and was a member of the Military Council that planned the 1916 Easter Rising, before being sentenced to death for his part in the events - but not until after he married his fiancee Grace Gifford in Kilmainham Jail's chapel
