Wimbledon 2024
Day Two BBC2 2
Isa Guha and Clare Balding present further coverage of day two of the Grand Slam tournament from the All England Club, featuring men's and ladies' first-round matches. Reigning ladies' champion Marketa Vondrousova is scheduled to get the day's proceedings on Centre Court under way. The Czech became the first unseeded woman to win the title after defeating Ons Jabeur in the showpiece match, going one better than when she was the runner-up in the 2019 French Open. Last year, it was Elena Rybakina who entered as champion and she experienced an early scare when she lost her first set to Shelby Rogers, but she then got into her groove and prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Over on the No 1 Court, eventual men's champion Carlos Alcaraz got his tournament under way with a comfortable 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 victory over veteran Jeremy Chardy
