Velma feels left out of the gang until she makes friends with a 'mer-woman', who tells her that fish freaks have been attacking boats in Crystal Cove harbour. She almost gets herself killed when investigating the case alone, so the other gang members step in to help - but the closer they get to solving the mystery, the more dangerous the situation becomes, and the more Velma risks losing her special friend
