In October 1989 nine-year-old Jessi Toronjo went to a sleepover in 1989 thinking that her stepbrother, Jeffrey Pelley, was on his way to his senior prom. She would spend the next decade believing someone else committed an unspeakable crime which saw four members of her family killed. Years later, police reappeared, to advise they had confirmed the killer - and Jessi realised with horror that not only she had known him all along, but that her sleepover was the only reason she was still alive
