The Bridges that Built London with Dan Cruickshank

The historian explores the city's Thames crossings, discovering there is much more to them than simply a means of getting from one place to another. Beginning in the marshes of the estuary, he moves upstream to Vauxhall, where archaeologists have recorded London's oldest bridge, and also learns about the legend of London Bridge, before reaching journey's end at the Millennium Bridge near St Paul's Cathedral

The Bridges that Built London with Dan Cruickshank airs on BBC Four at 9:00 PM, Wednesday 16 April. (Audio Description, subtitles.)
