The Sting (1973)
The Sting
Aspiring con-man Johnny Hooker teams up with old pro Henry Gondorff to swindle mobster Doyle Lonnegan out of a fortune in revenge for the murder of a mutual friend. Enlisting the help of a host of crooks, they quickly conjure up a brilliant elaborate scheme to make him pay for his crime without him even knowing it. However, as their big con unfolds, things don't go according to plan, requiring some last-minute improvisation by the undaunted duo. Oscar-winning Depression-era comedy drama, starring Robert Redford and Paul Newman as the dynamic duo, along with Robert Shaw, Charles Durning and Eileen Brennan. Featuring one of the most distinctive scores in film history, courtesy of composer Marvin Hamlisch
