A man is found shot dead in a hotel room and the cash he was carrying has gone missing. Ronnie and Sam discover the victim owed his ex-wife thousands of pounds in child support for their terminally ill son and had been lying to his girlfriend about his line of work. As the investigation progresses, the detectives focus their inquiries on the child's grandfather. Did he commit murder to recoup the unpaid money or is there more to this family set-up than first appears? Meanwhile, at the Crown Prosecution Service, Kate and Jake work out their differences.
