Ever since suffering a brain infection four years ago, Sunderland woman June Findlay has been unable to walk or talk and is totally dependent on her devoted husband John. Since then she has been sleeping on a hospital bed in the kitchen, with no washing or toilet facilities. Joan and John do their best, but Nick Knowles believes they deserve better, so he and his small band of builders - bolstered by an army of local tradespeople - set out to extend the Findlays' home, with designer Oliver Heath on hand to protect his vision. Can they give June back her dignity?
