Austria, 1939, and peasant farmer Franz Jagerstatter faces execution by the Nazis when he refuses to fight during the Second World War. Writer-director Terrence Malick's drama, starring August Diehl, Valerie Pachner and Matthias Schoenaerts. Malick, acclaimed helmer of screen classic such as Badlands and Days of Heaven, hit a rocky patch with 2015's Knight of Cups, so this saw the filmmaker back on top form with a project which won two awards at Cannes alone
