Peter Wright is called out to help a ewe whose labour is worsening. Colleague Julian Norton has 50 little goats to disbud, so that they don't injure themselves or each other. However, Doris the kid is playing hide-and-seek. In Skeldale, Peter has an extreme operation to perform on border terrier cross Poppy. Bone cancer has been spreading through one of her legs, and the only hope of saving her is to remove the limb. Devoted owners Brian and Carole want to give her every chance to live, but how will she recover?
