The Special Operations Response Team attends a young woman who has been thrown off a horse near Dunbar. Speed is of the essence as weather is awful and their patient is lying in a field. Two paramedics are called to a car park in Perth where a man has been discovered by a member of the public lying unconscious. He's taken some illegal drugs and is close to death. The medics administer fast-acting drugs that should combat the effects of the overdose, but he initially fails to respond. The air ambulance brings a child with appendicitis from Campbeltown to Glasgow accompanied by her father. For her father, the trip brings back upsetting memories of a similar medical emergency
