60 Classical Years: BBC Two at 60

From its first days on air in 1964, BBC Two has placed classical music at the centre of its arts programmes. From Jacqueline du Pré to Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Verdi to Stravinsky, Maria Callas to Jessye Norman, the greatest names have thrilled viewers in concerts, films, and features. This programme celebrates an astonishing breadth of talent from 60 years of the finest classical performances shown on the channel, including Luciano Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma, as well as the sad beauty of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings and the sheer joy of the overture to Mozart's Marriage of Figaro.

60 Classical Years: BBC Two at 60 airs on BBC Two Wales at 10:55 PM, Monday 30 December. (Subtitles, repeat.)
