In the final episode, the actress Carey Mulligan discovers what happened to her grandfather who travelled thousands of miles to fight the Japanese in the final months of the Second World War. Her grandfather, Denzil Booth, lost his closest friends on board Britain's biggest warship, as it was the first to be attacked by a Japanese kamikaze. Later in the programme, Carey travels to Japan to understand the culture of the kamikaze from the other sid, and learns of the horrors her grandfather faced when he arrived in Tokyo
