When a pub landlady is crushed to death by a giant box during a magic show organised by famous illusionist Gideon Latimer, pathologist Kate discovers the cables had been deliberately sabotaged. Evangelising curate Andrew Maplin claims the tragedy is God's vengeance for the pagan traditions still held deep in Midsomer Oaks, but Barnaby and Nelson fear Gideon was the real target.
