On Christmas Eve, 1945, a fire destroyed the Sodder residence in Fayetteville, West Virginia. At the time, it was occupied by George and Jennie Sodder and nine of their 10 children. During the fire, George, Jennie, and four of the nine children escaped, but the bodies of the other five children have never been found. Their fate remains a mystery
