Iolo Williams explores four of Wales's river valleys from sea to source, uncovering their hidden wonders and remarkable wildlife, beginning with the Rheidol Valley. Starting at Aberystwyth Harbour on the west coast of Ceredigion, he spots birds including cormorants, kingfishers and sand martin chicks, and sees a pair of red kites nesting at the back of a house in the village of Capel Bangor. The spectacular falls at Devils Bridge attracts thousands of visitors each year, but Iolo is on the lookout for pine martens, elusive mammals thought extinct in Wales until a few years ago that are now making a daytime comeback in a nearby woodland
