The Reds have won this competition on eight occasions, with the most recent of those triumphs coming in the 2021/22 season, and they have not been beaten at this stage since a loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in 2019. League Two side Accrington earned this plum draw after defeating Swindon Town at home on penalties in the previous round, and this is their first meeting with the Reds since they were beaten 2-0 here at this stage of the cup all the way back in 1956.
