Jack and Victor receive the news that their old friend Pete the Jakey has died. Pete may have been homeless, but he held a special place in the heart of Craiglang's community. However, as residents gather at the Clansman after Pete's funeral, tight-fisted Tam still cannot find it in himself to contribute to the kitty. Meanwhile, a cost in the rise of drink sees The Clansman feel the pinch as punters stay away and when some dubious bootleg hooch starts flooding the community, Jack and Victor are prompted to find out who is brewing the influx.
