David Attenborough narrates footage of emperor penguins in Atka Bay, on the coast of Antarctica, as they return from three months of feeding at sea to raise their chicks. They arrive as the sea freezes over and other animals desert the area for safer territory - but if the penguins are to nurture a future generation, they will have to work together to endure some of the harshest conditions on Earth
