A young woman is murdered in the vicinity of a library and museum owned by a wealthy philanthropist with an interest in global mysticism. It's a complicated investigation, which leads the detectives into a world of mysticism, erotica, drug addiction and tempestuous family dynamics. But as if the case were not enough to contend with, Van der Valk also finds himself fending off office gossip about himself and his newly single colleague Lucienne.
