Elayne Devlin explores why her uncle Paddy and nearly 70,000 other men from southern Ireland ignored Irish neutrality to fight for Britain. Teenager Paddy Devlin became one of the top snipers in the British Army, fought on D-Day and was seriously wounded in Germany. Men who joined up to fight the Nazis were given a warm welcome in Britain during the war, but Ireland was a cold house for them on their return. The huge involvement of Irishmen and women in the British war effort was ignored until recently. This documentary tells their story for the first time, through the eyes of one local hero
