Following a defeat of Serbia and a draw against Denmark, England are guaranteed a place in the knockout stage even if they were to lose this evening, but the performances so far have done little to raise hopes that they can go one better than in Euro 2020 when they were runners-up to Italy, and they will want to claim the win that would see them top the group. Slovenia are in contention to make history and get out of the group stage for the first time since they separated from Yugoslavia in 1991, having drawn both of their previous games in the group.
