The Swiss won two of their three group matches in Qatar four years ago, overcoming both Cameroon and Serbia as they finished second to Brazil on account of their loss to the South Americans, but they then suffered a heavy 6-1 loss to Portugal in the last-16. The Bosnians failed to progress from the group stage at their only previous finals in Brazil in 2014, when a 3-1 victory over Iran in their final group game proved to be too little, too late after suffering losses to Argentina and Nigeria. This time around both teams have started their campaign with 1-1 draws, with the Swiss containing a late equaliser against the run of play to group underdogs Qatar, and their opponents sharing the spoils with co-hosts Canada.
