Documentary following an archaeological excavation at the ancient Roman city, with fresco-inspired animations showing what life was like in Pompeii before the eruption, as well as the horror faced by the residents as Vesuvius erupted in AD 79. The dig begins with the discovery of a large brick-built oven and further investigations reveal it was part of a thriving commercial bakery, and the team discovers three bodies in a small room close to it
